Stylefile: Blake Lively.

Lively is radiant in royal-hued Marchesa at the 2011 National Board of Review of Motion Pictures Gala at Cipriani 42nd Street in New York City.

Blake Lively.  Once upon a time she was that gorgeous blonde with the impossibly long legs who played Serena Van der Woodsen on Gossip Girl.  Fast forward to 2011 and she still is that gorgeous blonde with the impossibly long legs who plays Serena on Gossip Girl, but she certainly has evolved beyond that.  With roles in both the critically acclaimed, The Town, and the impending comic book blockbuster, Green Lantern, Lively has officially graduated to Hollywood starlet, but some of her most admired moves have been those offscreen.

Over the past year Lively made some serious strides stylewise.  Labelled, “The bombshell” by US Vogue, she  has added a dose of boldness and sophisticated sex appeal to her look that has proved undeniable to the powers that be, including fashion’s annointed king and queen,  Karl Lagerfeld and Anna Wintour.  Their nods of approval have landed Lively the coveted Vogue’s  Best Dressed title for 2010, front row billing at New York and Paris fashion week showings, and the honour of representing Chanel’s new “Mademoiselle” handbag line.

In 2011, the self-styled Miss Blake Lively is laden with fashion cred, due to her willingness to be just a little unconventional, her penchant for bold colours, daring silhouettes and embellished and textured fabrics, and her loyalty to sky-high Louboutins.

Golden Globes Style.

What: Hollywood’s (second most important) night of nights, The 68th Annual Golden Globe Awards.

Dress Code: Red Carpet Glamour

The Winners (stylewise): Megan Fox, Lea Michelle and Claire Danes, all pretty in pink tones. I don’t adore the usual style of any of these ladies (or pink for that matter), but I do love what they wore this time around.  Oh, and as for the after-parties, Kim Kardashian killed it.

Natalie Portman may have walked away with the big honour and the little golden statue (and looked lovely doing it), but when it comes to what they wore, these are the ladies worth talking about…

Lively and Lagerfeld: A Match Made in Heaven.

Karl Lagerfeld & Blake Lively: The designer and the face of Chanel's "Mademoiselle" handbag line.

After much anticipation and speculation, the lovely Blake Lively has finally been announced as an official ambassador for Chanel, as the face of the house’s “Mademoiselle” handbag line. The announcement caps off a stellar run for Lively, who has come into her own stylewise throughout the past year.  Her self-styled fashion moves have earnt her very public nods of approval from Karl Lagerfeld and Anna Wintour, two of fashion’s most discerning critics, landed her prize position in the front row for top runway shows during fashion week in Paris and New York, and earnt her the highly coveted mantle, Vogue’s Best Dressed, 2010.

The official “Mademoiselle” range campaign will be launched mid-March of this year.   According to Chanel, it is Lively’s “spontaneity and fresh, youthful image” that prompted Lagerfeld to hand pick her to front the campaign, which has was shot by Lagerfeld himself.

The heavenly partnership between Hollywood’s hottest and chicest young bombshell and the premier (and my absolute personal favourite) fashion house has astute fashion fans awaiting the forthcoming campaign with bated breath and pulses racing.

Chanel's "Mademoiselle". Ahh, one please!

Leighton Meester for Marie Claire.

Leighton Meester gets her rock chic on in the December issue of Marie Claire UK. In a departure from her oh-so demure looking Gossip Girl alter-ego, Miss Waldorf, Meester kills it in some of my favourite party looks; tousled hair, smoky lids and statement lips. Love!

Understated is overrated. Get your Meester on this holiday party season and shake up your hair and makeup with some of these head-turning looks, if you can handle the drama.

I heart new season threads.

•November 16, 2010 • Leave a Comment
It’s once again a time of year that sends a shiver of anticipation down my spine.  In the north, a chill is creeping into the air, here down under the equator it is finally warming up and across the world’s runaways and catalogues, models are swathed in the new seasons stylings of high fashion and high street labels alike.
Twice annually there comes turnings of the seasons that brings along with them a flurry of new fashion, in the form of the Spring/Summer and Autumn/Winter collections.   Nothing quite compares.
In my eyes, no other Aussie new season collection compares to Shakuhachi’s latest offering, Love Etc.  It is a culmination of draping, twists, lace and print that is at once both romantic and edgy.  I love and crave every single piece, buy me any and all of them!  I also heart the whimsical drama of Zac Posen’s vibrant RTW line, it is candy coloured perfection for grown-up girls who still love to play dress-ups.
Erin Wasson for RVCA and One Teaspoon’s pieces epitomise unrefined urban cool in the best possible way, and to top it off, the Fantastic Projects resort line by my fashion hero label, Sass & Bide boasts some of their most creative yet wearable pices from the past few seasons.  Their “Write the Future” dress is my ultimate object of lust.
These are my favourite current and new seasons pieces.  Check out the pics below and get wrapped up in them.
